Cold-Pressed Oil, while similar in intent, is often extracted using modern steel machines. Though temperature is kept under 50°C, the metal-to-metal contact may generate minor heat, slightly affecting the nutrients.

2. Material Used in Pressing

Wood-pressed oils use a wooden churner (typically made of neem or babul wood), which is gentler on the seeds and helps maintain natural taste and aroma.

Cold-pressed oils usually use metal presses, which are durable for commercial use but may not retain flavor as effectively.

3. Taste and Aroma

Wood-pressed oils have a richer, more natural aroma and flavor because of the slow and traditional pressing. Perfect for authentic Indian cooking.

Cold-pressed oils can feel slightly more neutral in taste and are more common in mass-market health food stores.

4. Heat Generation

In wood pressing, the process is slower, and there is almost no heat involved. This helps retain maximum nutrients and antioxidants.

Cold-pressing does keep temperature under control but sometimes reaches higher levels due to friction between metal parts.

Wood-pressed oil follows ancient Indian techniques, passed down over generations. It connects you with tradition and natural living.

Cold-pressed oil is a modern health trend, focusing on clean processing but using newer technology.

6. Availability and Shelf Life

Wood-pressed oils are often made in small batches and may have a shorter shelf life due to zero preservatives.

Cold-pressed oils are widely available and slightly more refined in packaging and processing, giving them a longer shelf life.

If you’re looking for oil that's closer to nature, loaded with flavor, and rooted in Indian tradition  wood-pressed oil is your best pick.

If convenience, modern branding, and mass availability are your preference  cold-pressed oil may suit your needs.
